Rue du Sorbier Brut Magnum

A. Levasseur

$148

Named for the road on which the family domaine sits, Rue du Sorbier is made with grapes harvested from the 50-year-old vines that grow behind the family home. Typical of wines from Vallée de la Marne, this cuvée is a pinot meunier-dominant blend mixed with 35 percent réserve wine to give the juice its deep complexity, balance and toasty, honeyed characteristics.

See: Pale yellow like freshly baled straw

Smell: White peach and fresh wood shavings at first, followed by ripe apricot, succulent strawberries and the first sweet pea blossoms of spring

Taste: Ripe yellow pear dances across the tongue, then comes the fresh lemon.

Pair: Pair this bottle with aged Parmigiano and buttery table crackers or a flaky-crusted pot pie fresh from the oven.

Celebrate: You parked far from the entrance on purpose, took the stairs instead of the elevator and treated Fido to an extra long walk. It’s not even dinner time, and your Apple Watch’s happy buzz lets you know you’ve closed your circles. Congratulations on meeting your move goals!

David Levasseur began learning the meticulous craft of making Champagne from his father, Albert, in the early 1990s. In 2003, David took over the family’s 4 1/5 hectares of vineyards spread across 18 plots in the Vallée de la Marne villages of Cuchery, Châtillon-sur-Marne and Fleury-la-Rivière. On a solo journey to create Champagne that “awakens the senses,” the vigneron’s playful spirit and enthusiasm results in fresh and balanced cuvées that are fun to drink. After many years of championing sustainable practices, Levasseur’s vineyards have begun the official conversion to certified organic farming.

We Care Deeply About Your Grower Champagne.

Select “pick up” during check out, and we’ll safely store your bubbles in our temperature-controlled cave until you can collect them. Once we notify you that your order is ready, pop by at your convenience to pick it up and enjoy a splash. Or, if you prefer, give us a call, and we’ll bring it to you curbside.

Our new compostable, insulated packaging keeps your Champagne safe from breakage and at a constant temperature from our cave to you. Even so, we monitor the weather where you are, and if we feel that extreme heat or cold may affect the quality of your bubbles, we’ll be in touch to offer you options.
