Champagne Pairings for Game Day

Fatcork Champagne and football superbowl party

Invite your friends and family over for the Super Bowl game — and to drink Champagne! Here’s how to pull off the best football watch party of the season:

  1. Go for Premier Crus over brews.
In lieu of a beer-only beverage station, choose several bottles of crisp, low-dosage Champagne to serve. We especially love rosé magnums and vintage Champagnes for game days.
  2. Play it cool.
To get your bubbles nice and cold fast, fill your trusty Yeti cooler with half ice and half water, and submerge the bottles for at least 20 minutes before opening.
  3. Dial up the salty snacks.
Champagne pairs beautifully with mixed nuts or classic potato chips, but if you want to elevate your football fare, serve popcorn prepared with truffle oil, or brie and fig jam crostini. For a heavier app, whip up a tray of barbecue pulled pork nachos. The smoky and sweet notes from the barbecue sauce go amazingly well with Champagne.
  4. Showboat your Champagne expertise.
Follow the QR code on the backs of your fatcork bottles (or check out the digital tasting notes on our website), and do a quick study about each wine and its producer before your guests arrive. Then, drop a little cuvée commentary as you fill up their cups.
Cheers!
