Cuvée Excellence Rosé Extra Brut

Alexandre Lenique

$75

See: Pale pink with glints of gold and orange and a wildly effervescent mousse

Smell: Summer strawberries, raspberries, green apple skin, hazelnut and candied orange

Taste: A burst of juicy yet tart red berry mixed with watermelon rind, grated nutmeg and grandma’s Strawberry Bon Bons. Mineral undertones of wet chalk and sea spray. Light and crisp with focused acidity and a long, dry finish.

Pair: Pour this bottle alongside a baby spinach salad with candied nuts, strawberries, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette or a grilled Gruyère and French ham sandwich. It’s also a knockout pairing for strawberry rhubarb pie with Chantilly cream.

Celebrate: Your favorite cable TV network is playing a marathon of all the best Molly Ringwald movies: “The Breakfast Club,” “Sixteen Candles” and “Pretty in Pink.” Plunge this bottle into an ice bath while you pop some popcorn and claim a spot on the sofa. The “Hey, hey, hey, hey, ooh, woah” rolls in 20 minutes, and your bubbles will be ready to go then, too.

Village: Pierry
Region: Côte des Blancs

Vintage: 60% 2018, 40% vin de réserve

Varieties: 70% chardonnay, 15% pinot noir, 15% pinot meunier

Alexandre Lenique’s family has been making wine for more than 250 years — on the same 6 1/2 hectares of vineyards and in the same caves below the historic Lenique estate in Pierry, outside of Épernay. A fourth generation vigneron, Alexandre is passionate about sustainable agriculture. His commitment to protecting the biodiversity of the area and promoting rich soil composition is a driving force behind his incredible cuvées.

Known both for his patience and exacting attention to quality, Alexandre relies on “gravity-flow,” a gentle method that preserves the delicate flavors and aromas cultivated by a slow fermentation process.

We Care Deeply About Your Grower Champagne.

Select “pick up” during check out, and we’ll safely store your bubbles in our temperature-controlled cave until you can collect them. Once we notify you that your order is ready, pop by at your convenience to pick it up and enjoy a splash. Or, if you prefer, give us a call, and we’ll bring it to you curbside.

Our new compostable, insulated packaging keeps your Champagne safe from breakage and at a constant temperature from our cave to you. Even so, we monitor the weather where you are, and if we feel that extreme heat or cold may affect the quality of your bubbles, we’ll be in touch to offer you options.

  • What do I do if my Champagne is corked?

Damp, wet cardboard? That’s not on the tasting note! Cork taint is the worst, but all fatcork Champagnes use natural cork closures, so it does happen on the rare occasion. Please let us know, and will happily replace the bottle. Before you throw it away, snap a photo of the back label and we can refer to the code for reference. Email it to info@fatcork.com along with the order number.

  • Can I return or exchange my bottles?

We aim to please. Call or email us, so we can talk about what happened and how we can make things right.
