What I know about tariffs

Lately, my inbox has been full of emails with a common subject line: Tariffs. How will they impact grower Champagne? Will fatcork Champagne be more expensive? Should I stockpile bottles in case we can’t get anymore? These are things that have been on my mind, too.
For weeks now, I've been keenly focused on the developing news regarding the tariff situation and on anticipating what it will mean for our small business. To be honest, I still don’t have all the answers. But what I do know is this: Grower Champagne is about beauty, craft and authenticity. It speaks to our collective need for celebrating the small joys in life and gathering with our community. Grower Champagne is unique and unrivaled, and I will do everything in my power to continue sharing its magic with you.
Here are the most common questions I've received from customers and my best attempt at responding to them:

With the 20% tariff on imports set to begin yesterday, I began the day with a sense of anxious determination. I’d spent weeks scrambling to uncover solutions for how to adjust our small business to better withstand the financial blow. Now, with the news of a 90-day pause, all I really know for sure is that ports will be jammed with products trying to sail before the next announcement. The one thing I can and will do is work with our growers to develop a reliable plan for an unpredictable future. Thankfully, we've built a trusting relationship that allows us — and them — to be flexible.

Absolutely! Fatcork will survive because our business pillars remain strong. Searching out the best sparkling wine in the world (which is still from Champagne, France) and providing exceptional customer service are what has kept us relevant for 15 years, and those mainstays of our brand will keep us in business for years to come.

No. We will do everything we can to avoid raising prices on our Champagne or Champagne club allocations this year by getting creative and using our agility as a small business to our advantage. In fact, many of our Midwest and Southeast club members should see the same reduction in shipping costs next month that we were able to negotiate for our West Coast, New York and Florida members last year.

Now, more than ever, we are counting on our loyal customers and Champagne club members to spread the word about fatcork and to continue “celebrating every day”! More customers buying grower Champagne from fatcork will help soften the tariff blow – allowing us to keep our fatcork family growing and your Champagne prices stable. Please encourage your friends and family to follow us on social media, urge them to sign up for our emails and bring them with you to tastings in the cave.
Thank you so much for your emails and your words of support. Together, we will make it through these uncertain and turbulent times. And, as always, we will put you, our customers, at the center of everything we do.
Cheers!
