Vadin Plateau Bois des Jots 2015
As one of three cuvées of this nature, Yann focused here on highlighting a single vineyard, varietal, and vintage. This cuvée is 100% 2015 pinot noir from their Premier Cru vineyards in Cumières. The grapes for this one come from ½ a hectare on the edge of the woods, owned by a local friend Monsieur Jots. The lady bug on the label represents biodynamic practices. This was the second vintage created after the estate became certified - when Yann noticed nature coming back to the vines—bees, birds, and ladybugs.
Nose: Classic cellar notes mask jammy fruit and toasted biscuit.
Taste: Dueling sides of fresh bright acidity and juicy red berry fruit and citrus rind.
Food pairing: Can be savored alone as an aperitif, or enjoyed with white fish, fresh pasta with butter and herbs. Warm popcorn on the couch is a no brainer.
Story: Powerful yet elegantly poised and beautifully balanced much like her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; she masters that sweet spot between being a royal monarch and just herself, Elizabeth Windsor.
